Education

Government schools in Kadapakkam, like many rural areas in India, confront significant challenges: under-resourced classrooms, limited infrastructure, high student–teacher ratios, inconsistent attendance, and a lack of teaching materials. These obstacles often deprive children of a quality education.

To address this, The East West Foundation (TEWF) implemented an educational enrichment program at the Uluru Children’s Home (UCH), ensuring every child receives personalised academic support.

TEWF employs qualified local teachers—most with at least four years of university education—who visit UCH each evening. With small class sizes (one teacher for every three to six children), students benefit from focused assistance with their studies and homework.

E-Classroom on wheels

Our two technically modified and customised buses known as ‘eCOW’ were generously donated by Cognizant in 2011 and Mr Sathish Ramakrishna from USA in 2014 respectively.

Our buses travel to rural and remote Government schools and communities to provide IT and computer education – providing children with valuable skills for their future, particularly beneficial in a country that is becoming heavily reliant on the IT sector and general computing skills.
