The East West Foundation opened their Children’s Home in 2001, in response to the need to protect and care for abandoned, destitute and orphaned children, especially females, continuously on the increase despite the government and NGOs doing their best to curtail this.
Located at Alamparai, 100km south of Chennai, our children’s home provides relief and a safe environment for our community children, facilitating secured dormitory buildings surrounded by fencing and with 24-hour watchmen on duty.
Read MoreThe East West Foundation’s education program empowers children to face their lives with a sensible and practical approach. Our school is a co-educational, English medium school and is situated on three acres of fenced in land, buildings are cyclone and monsoon storm proofed, with five classrooms, all with amenities. Our English-medium school teaches students from lower-kindergarten to fifth grade.
Our Education Unit also conducts a number of community outreach education programmes, as well as focussing on computer and electronic education, through the use of our donated mobile education buses – fitted with computers to enable children from remote communities to learn and provide future opportunities.
Read MoreOur primary healthcare programmes began in 1998. We have seen a significant improvement in disease management and awareness amongst the communities we work in today. We provide access to quality and free healthcare for over 40,00 people, averaging over 150 patients a day at our Health Care Centre.
The East West Mobile Medical Clinic (donated by a generous sponsor) visits disadvantaged remote communities (24 villages), providing free consultations and medicine, through our doctor and nurses monthly. Over 7500 patients annually.

Over 2000 indigenous trees have been planted within The East West school compound. In addition, a three-acre ethno-medicinal forest has been established.
Our Environment Education Centre promotes sustainable framing and fishing techniques.
Currently the water collected from our Children’s Home is treated and stored in ponds for use in our gardens.
